We're excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for two categories at the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards 2020!
Following the successful first year of the Bed Pod and trials of our new Forest Pod, we’ve been named as finalists in the CleanTech Company of the Year and the hotly-contested One to Watch category at this year’s awards.
CleanTech Company of the Year
Our Bed Pod is a natural fit with this category, and the judges who selected the finalists seem to agree. The category seeks to “reward the pioneers of cleantech…[using] technology that solves a problem, or improves lives, in a sustainable way.”
The Bed Pod provides always-on monitoring for bed bugs in hotels and other multi-room accommodation, ultimately reducing pesticides needed for treatment by detecting the pests early and letting pest controllers act quickly and effectively to prevent wider outbreaks. Other shortlisted companies include Alchemie Technology, Cambond and Camnexus.
One to Watch
This category is defined as “looking for the trailblazers who are pushing the boundaries of possibility and shaping the future [and] setting the standards in innovation and entrepreneurship.” Our fellow shortlisted companies include BIOS Health, Flusso, Glyconics, techspert.io and VividQ - each doing exciting work across a wide range of industries.
Cambridge as a tech hub
“Cambridge is a world-leading city for science and technology,” says Robert Fryers, Spotta’s co-founder and CEO. “Neil and I met in the city, and it was the only ‘home’ we ever considered for Spotta. To be shortlisted for two awards against a deep pool of high-quality local talent is a great achievement for us although, of course, we’re hoping we can claim victory when the winners are announced early next year!”
